Quick-look Cartomancy

This reading uses modern playing cards instead of Tarot cards, but is otherwise works the same as the 5 card reading

This reading works with ideas, inspiration and creativity and like all Modern Oracle readings, it does not make predictions. As always, the goal is to help you think outside the box…not trap you into one. Cartomancy – reading with regular playing cards – can be substituted for Tarot cards in any party at no extra charge.

Q. I am recently unemployed, but I believe the best job will come. I try to keep a positive frame of mind and am open to any messages that may come. What do I need to know to get through this time?

A. This is a stressful situation for anyone. It is normal to feel stressed and a whole range of emotions. You are so wise to keep things in perspective, and to be open to divine guidance.

Not surprisingly, most of your cards are diamonds, which have to do with career, abundance, prosperity, wealth etc. Hearts have to do with romance and close relationships just like you would expect. Spades have to do with culture, community, society, people of authority.

Cartomancy works just like Tarot. Any card in any position can serve to give advice, to caution, or as with this first card, to validate / congratulate.

The ‘lessons past’ card – The queen of hearts.

The feeling here is twofold. One comes from logical knowing…from our past conversations, I know you have had challenges in the romance department. But there is validation here of the grace, wisdom and compassion that you have used in those situations. You are a compassionate nurturer. In cartomancy, the royalty cards take on some of the meaning of the major arcana tarot cards, since there are no major arcana equivalents in the modern deck. So in some respects, the queen of hearts is also like the Empress card and the Priestess card. Mystery, magic, nature, nurturing and compassion. There is acknowledgement of all those aspects that are a part of you and all you do. You are magical, compassionate and nurturing. There is also a sense of reassureance, that there. The magic, compassion, nurturing of spirit and nature are there for you, helping you, and thanking you for being open and willing to feel their love and guidance.

With the ‘lessons now’ card, the two of diamonds, I ‘hear’ “pull and tug” as if you are being pulled in two directions or are “of two minds” about your career. You are right, the right job will come, and it will come to you easier than most because of your faith and trust in the universe, but the feeling of being tugged in a variety of directions may slow things down a tiny bit. What would be the ideal situation? Instead of feeling anything would do, why not take the opportunity to ask for perfection? What is your dream job? Is this the opportunity you’ve been looking for (even sub-consciously) to make a change to something even better than you had before? What is that perfect, perfect job? If you ask for that, and it doesn’t come true, you still might be closer than having never asked in the first place…shoot for the stars, and even if you fall you still reach the moon, as they say.

Looking at the Ace of Diamonds, in the ‘lessons to be’ position, I ‘hear’ the word “source”. There is a feeling of a stronger connection with the ultimate source, the universe. There is a sense that this experience will build on the strengths you already have and strengthen your awareness and connection to the Source of all things and inexhaustable abundance.

The advice card is the 8 of spades. This card speaks of “the infinite way of things” a sort of ‘ain’t that the way it goes.” The general patterns and vagaries of human existence. There are always those who take advantage of others. Those who give, take and desire control. There are compromises to be made as part of survival in the industrial and technological age. It is the grand dance of lessons and archetypes. It speaks of a lesson of control and manifestation…and what to surrender to infinity.

Ultimately the last card is good news. The outcome card is the 9 of diamonds. 9 is often associated with a good end, a project wrapping up in a good and successful way. Diamond is work, finances…so ultimately, whatever other food for thought has been thrown on your plate, you are right. You will find the right job, and all will be well in the end. Your trust in the universe is well placed and will be rewarded, no matter what other emotions and ideas bubble up along the way.

To summarize with purely intuitive impressions…I hear “candles” and “clarity” I see a piece of lined paper and pen, while my mind is drawn to that old, almost cliche advice about making a literal list describing your perfect dream job, the perfect life in every detail, the balance between work and the rest of your life…the whole gambit. Write it, intend it, manifest it…you know the drill.

This is a bit of an odd idea, but I’ll throw it out for you anyway…get a pack of cards, and tape the 9 of diamond up in your work area to serve as a constant reminder of sucessfully getting your ultimate goal, of making the dream real…both work and recreation…romance, family…everything.

A scent comes to mind, but I can’t quite nail it down. It is almost syrupy and sweet, like maple, but not that sweet. Definitely a wood resin, but not as smoky as frankincense, myrrh or sandalwood. I’m thinking amber or more likely copal. Copal is a south american resin, reportedly favored by native shamen. You can find it in incense…I’ve even seen the pure resin to put on charcoal to burn…but boy is that smokey! Turn off the smoke detector if you try that one…but I’m pretty sure you can get copal in a normal incense too, or maybe candles. The scent is stronger, and I’m pretty sure it is copal. Keep an eye open – if you run into it, it may be a clue for you, whether you use the scent or not.

With that the energies withdraw.

You know I wish you all the best with everything. I hope this helps a little.
