7 card tarot reading

This is the longest and most detailed type of reading that I do.

It includes all the elements of the smaller psychic tarot readings, plus two additional cards “assets” and “cautions” showing the things that are working for you and against you currently or relative to your question.

Q. Could you give some advice about my career and work? Am I on the right path?

A.

The first three cards show the path you are on now, the next is advice, food for thought. The fifth is another way things can go based on your choices and actions. 6th is assets, things working in your favor, and last, is cautions, things to watch out for.

General Patterns: There are two sections to the Tarot cards: the major and minor arcana. In your cards, there is only one Major Arcana card, so I would interpret that as meaning there is not a large crisis or major life lesson looming in this – things might actually resolve easier than you expect. The minor arcana cards are very balanced – all four suites are represented. There is one more of the swords card, so my hunch is that the power structure, hierarchy, supervisors, etc. are going to be your greatest challenge and source of learning on your career path. More so than your skills set or income itself. Here I get the mental image of men in suits and ties, a corporate or legal setting. If you don’t work in a setting like that now, is it something you’ve been considering? There is a legal / lawyer feel to this, but in all fairness that may be an intrusion of logic and memory…I know a lawyer named Jerry, so take that with whatever grain of salt…

Cards can serve several purposes: to advise, to caution, or very often in this ‘past’ position, to congratulate you on things you have done well. This card can often show where you have had success in the past and remind you to bring that skill or trait forward to the current situation. That is the sense I have of the knight of wands for you. The feeling here is that you have had good confidence in yourself in the past. There is also a sense of leadership and inspiring others. Here I get a mental image of a high school athlete in a letterman’s jacket. If you didn’t have that experience yourself, then it could be this represents the stereotype… society’s idealized idea of teen success. The scholar-warrior sort of idea. Whatever moments of self-confidence and leadership you have had in the past…draw on those feelings and skills to help you find and stay on the right career path.

The page of swords brings to mind the phrase “crises of faith” (pardon me if I say ‘i hear’ for impressions that come through as words, ‘i see’ for things that come through as images)… There is a feeling here that your career has forced your to push the envelope a little on the personal / emotional level, and perhaps taken you outside of your comfort zone. A sudden change in responsibility, a lay-off, there is a feel here, too, of something sudden sending you into a little bit of a tail spin while giving you maybe the biggest challenge ever…maybe even enough to shake your confidence. Put this with the first card, and it is a reminder to have faith in yourself, especially in your current skills and abilities (organization, leadership, etc)…both training and personality traits are in there somewhere that can serve you well. It is just a matter or remembering them, bringing them to the surface, and having faith in them…you actually.

The Queen of Coins is a bit of a caution…as you progress down your career path…and there is a feel of changes and choices here…wealth and power come at a cost. Don’t forget to factor in the rest of your life as you make your career choices. Think about what role you want your career to play in the your life as a whole. Are you happy being a gung-ho work-driven sort of person? How important are material things to you…where is your thrill bliss and happiness? There is nothing wrong with being an adrenaline junkie, as long as you do it deliberately and mindfully. By the same token, don’t give away precious other parts of your life. Don’t sacrifice your happiness on the alter of money and work. Do you have or want a family? What other parts of life give it joy and meaning? Is work everything, or just something you do to finance the rest of your life? Which way do you enjoy having it, or what point between the two extremes are you most happy?

The ace of swords has to do with awakening, and it gets back to that idea of sudden challenges…the idea of “pushing the envelope”. The challenges you are facing in your career ( or will face…the concept of time is very vague in this kind of work, actually)…anyway the challenges will do two things…remind you of things you have done well in the past, like we talked about before, PLUS as this card hints, it will help you find new parts of yourself…unmask new character strengths and abilities that you might not have know exist. The feeling around this card is like that old saying “that which doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger”. But there is also a thread of reassurance here…that you have what it takes to rise to challenges, so don’t worry, don’t be afraid, don’t lose your confidence. Have faith in yourself to learn from challenges and learn from mistakes…so even if things go wrong for a while, you have the capacity to learn from the setback and make it into an asset in the long run. Hmmm…there is a slight element of the military in these feelings/images. Both modern military and the movie “800″ come to mind for some reason. I’ll leave that for you to understand.

Occasionally, one card will serve as emphasis, a sort of bold face and underline for another card. It isn’t the most common way for a card to function, but that is the impression I get from the 9 of cups. With its meaning of “insight” it feels like emphasis of the two points above: 1. you can rise to a challenge, and have the capacity to gain in insight and grow from the experience. and 2. If you do that, the outcome will be good. Another traditional meaning of the 9 of cups is fulfillment…a task or project coming to a good end. There is a strong sense of reassurance around the card when thinking of that meaning. There is a feel here that you are being supported and helped on a spiritual level, and there are intangible opportunities for growth and exploration beyond career: there is a feel of opportunity to explore esoteric ideas too – like spirit guides or meditation, or whatever your particular spiritual tradition might be, but that gives you the flavor of it.

The assets card, the world card from the major arcana, continues on this theme. Its meaning is success, and it feels just as it seems on the surface…a good omen. Be confident, it will end well. Following a path of integrity, leadership, and keeping work in a healthy balance with the rest of life will pay off…it is possible to find a balance between happiness and material needs. You don’t have to be a hermit in a hut in the wilderness to be spiritually happy. You can have nice things without being spiritually and morally bankrupt. This card has a feel of finding a happy balance between the two. Mind mind is again drawn to the image of the high school letterman. The feel of that is success and this sort of balance may come easier for you than it might for others. It is more natural to you, and the work for you is to learn to allow it…and to learn diplomacy with other successful men like you.

The caution card is the 5 of wands. Its meaning is given as confusion, and the artwork represents it as the confusion of a battle…literally five guys whacking each other with sticks. Sun Tzu and the Art of War springs to mind. A good warrior stays cool in battle…to much emotion and you can become confused and lost in the overall confusion of battle. The phrase “don’t get lost in the forest because of all the trees” comes to mind, too. A good warrior also know when to attack, and when to conserve resources. There is a large element of this when I think of this card relative to your career. You have to choose your battles…know when to assert your skills and guard your turf…and when to let others run themselves out. Know when to assert, when to be diplomatic, and when to give people the rope to eventually hang themselves with, if that makes sense to you. Insight, leadership, confidence and tactical planning will all serve you well, but only, especially, if combined with a big-picture COMPASSION AND WISDOM.

To end, I always give any last impressions that come through. They might relate to your questions and cards, or not. I just give the impressions in their raw form, and let you interpret and understand them as you will. It might make sense right away, or it may take some though, or make no sense at all.

My eye is drawn to the gold, yellow colors on the cards. This makes me think of the solar plexus chakra which has to do with power and self-confidence. There is also an element of good omen too…gold is after all, the color of wealth.

My eye is also strongly drawn to the queen. Don’t forget the importance of nurturing and compassion to self and other. There is also a sense of leaving room in your life “for the woman” …for love and romance. If you are married, don’t forget to give time and attention there. If not I hear “leave room” for love and romance that may develop in the future.

Now I see light blue, a room perhaps, and hear distant music, as if music or something related to music might be important to you…stress relieveing, but also a current or maybe past-life connection with classical music. Mozart comes to mind for some reason. There is an echoing feeling, like a room with a tile floor too. There are drapes and curtians “back room at a symphonic hall” comes to mind. The phrase “be in the fullness of yourself” is given for you. Also “allow the full goodness of life” “fill your heart and fullness will be given”.

These words are somehow tied to the light blue-tile-drape-music-symphonic room above. it is fuzzy, but there is a sense of a grand piano in middle of the room… now I see brass instruments like trombones to one side. Some accent on the drapes is golden-tan as if that color is somehow significant too. Like the cords, ties and tassels on the drapes.

Now I see a brown briefcase. remember those old puzzles…i think they are called “rebus”…I see a music stand and a plus sign then a gavel, like a judge’s hammer thing… music stand + gavel LOL now I see a smiley face…are you debating between music and law careers and a combination is being suggested?

There is a sense of laughter here…a strong reminder to laugh, and be happy and enjoy your life journey. Then the energy withdraws.
