“In this world, nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes” – Benjamin Franklin
“Change is life, stagnation is death” – author unknown
Not all change is losses. In order for things to get better, they have to change. When you ride the outside of a wheel, change is always up, always down. Up, down, better, worse don’t mean a thing to the wheel itself. Those definitions are all relative to the world outside of the wheel.
If you ride a merry-go-round and look at the park spinning around you, it’s easy to get dizzy and sick. Look just at the wheel you are riding, and everything feels more stable, less dizzying. Change is a part of life just as much as turning is part of riding the merry-go-round. Look at the wheel, not the relative background. Look at the life, not the background of old expectations. Both of those things make the ride a lot less nauseating.
